Disney’s folk tales are a hit not only among the kids but among all age groups. And they are even more fun to watch when remade into live-action movies. With several remakes including Mulan, The Little Mermaid, and Lilo & Stitch are set for release in the coming years, let’s take a look-back at some of the best live-action flicks from the production house.
Released in 2015, Cinderella simply stole our hearts when it hit the theaters. The absolutely stunning visuals and Lily James as the leading lady made Disney’s cartoon into a blockbuster live-action film. While Ella’s stepmom and stepsisters made her life a miserable one, things take a turn for the better when she meets the fairy.
Beauty & the Beast
It’s hard to miss watching Emma Watson playing the Beauty in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. Originally released as a full-length anime in 1991, the most-loved romantic flick was remade into a big-budgeted live-action film in 2017. Dan Steven plays the Beast who is cursed until he finds true love. Catch this musical treat to relive your favorite childhood anime.
Originally based on the story from One thousand and One Nights, Aladdin was first animated by Disney in the year 1992. This Middle-Eastern folklore is so popular that, over the years, it has been retold in several languages worldwide. After nearly two decades, Walt Disney made it a point to bring back the magic with its live-action adaption of the same. While Mena Massoud played Aladdin, Naomi Scott was the gorgeous princess Jasmine. Of course, Will Smith as Genie did bring mixed reviews when the teaser released, but it was undoubtedly a great rendition from the Men in Black actor.
The Jungle Book
No matter how many years pass, The Jungle Book will always remain kids’ favorite. The film is based on Rudyard Kipling’s hit book of the same name and revolves around Mowgli who grows up in a jungle alongside his animal pact. The series of spine-chilling events in the wild makes this movie a must-watch. And hey, don’t forget to catch this hit flick in 3D for the best visual experience.
The Lion King
Exceptional animation, voice overs, and a super-improvised version of the 1994 anime, The Lion King is one of Disney’s best works. The lion prince Simba embarking on his journey to become the King by dethroning the traitors who killed his father Mufasa is the movie’s plot.
